If Pill Ads Were Honest

We’ve all seen the nonsense; the pharmaceutical company’ s T.V. ad budgets are bigger than the gross national product of some 2nd-tier countries. The ads dive deep into the psyche of the hypochondriac consumer:

“Hey, if you are having a problem with ____(x), just go tell you’re doctor you want him to get you___ (y) [their prescription pill)], and it will most likely cure___ (z).”

Yeah, the whole process if bassackwards.

Truly, the holistic approach should be that a doctor assesses you first, overall, then recommends a a solution, hopefully, the last resort being a pharmaceutical. Yet, in this day and age of souped-up divert-to-consumer marketing, leave it to SNL to poke fun out of this whole head-shaking nonsense.
